The CPT National leadership would like to issue an official statement denying a message titled “OFFICIAL CPT STATEMENT (The Catholic Professionals of Tanzania)” that is circulating on social media, especially WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.

The CPT leadership wishes to inform leaders, CPT members and all believers on the following:

  1. The statement written by Dr. Nagaikaya Thomas M (PhD) is not an official statement from the CPT Office. The writer is not a recognized CPT member and was not given any authority to issue a statement on behalf of CPT.

  2. CPT operates under the guidance of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference and follows established procedures for reflection, analysis, decision-making and issuing statements. The method used in the circulating message does not follow Church systems, guidelines or procedures.

  3. CPT recognizes the right of every person to express opinions and views. However, CPT strongly condemns anyone who falsely claims authority and presents personal opinions under the name of CPT. CPT does not have a culture of such behavior and this clearly shows that the person involved is not one of us.

  4. CPT is officially known as Christian Professionals of Tanzania not Catholic Professionals of Tanzania.

  5. Through this letter, we urge all CPT members and stakeholders to ignore the circulating message. We also ask everyone to use proper channels when sharing opinions and contributing professionally to society in accordance with CPT and Church procedures.

Additionally, an official letter from the CPT National Office is attached below in the Swahili version.

The CPT Leadership wishes you a fruitful mission.

In Christ,
